I cannot say how glad I am you are Leader again……

March 25th, 2008

Dear Lawrence,

I cannot say how glad i am you are leader again of the alternative government again. I will be doing everything i can to ensure you are elected as QLDs next Premier, you are the best man for the job by far, i simply cannot wait untill i see Premier Lawrence Springborg written in the papers or on the news, QLD so desperatly needs to rid itself of this arrogant and out of touch Bligh Government.

I am a student at UQ, and on open day you were there with your team wearing “The Borg is Back….Vote Springborg in 09″ T-shirts and i would really love to order one. If your office could get back to me with how i can get ahold of one, that would be great.

Keep up the great work, QLD needs you.

Thanks and Best Wishes,

Luke

Thank you……

Dear Mr Springborg - many thanks for your work in revealing the lack of leadership from the Queensland Nurses Union in relation to workforce safety. During my years in Queensland I found the QNU to be sadly lacking Keep up the good work

Go Lawrence!

March 3rd, 2008

It is good to see you back at the helm, I hope you can do better than our lazy local member Ronan Lee.  It would be nice to have someone from conservative politics back out in the west again!

Union and race club representatives engage on pressing issues for Cloncurry

February 25th, 2008

Lawrence was in Cloncurry meeting with union representatives of the Rail, Tram and Bus Union to discuss their concerns over the threatened implementation of Project Rebus. If implemented, Project Rebus could shed up to 1200 Queensland rail jobs, close branch lines and discontinue freight services to almost all centres between Townsville and Mt Isa. He also met with the Cloncurry Race Club president and the Queensland Country Racing zone representative who voiced their concerns about Queensland Racing’s proposed slashing of up to 50 regional race meetings.

Mackay flood victims talk of the devastating floods

February 25th, 2008

In Mackay to listen to flood victims, Lawrence heard about the water that had washed through homes destroying possessions in its wake. One resident who had only moved into his house in December said that they had not finished unpacking and now all the removal boxes were saturated. He said that he had virtually lost everything with the most difficult being the personal items, such as photos, that could never be replaced. Lawrence urged the Government to put pressure on the insurance companies to show a bit of compassion, understanding and urgency in helping the victims.

Roma - a welcome to the region

February 25th, 2008

More than 70 people joined Lawrence for a conference in Roma and began the event by singing Happy Birthday to him (it was Lawrence’s 40th birthday). The Roma Town Mayor, Bruce Garvie, was quoted in the Western Star as saying, “It is really good to see an Opposition leader visit Roma. At least the Nationals are showing some interest in visiting our region and engaging the locals, which sets them apart from the current Government. Bungil Shire Mayor, Robert Loughnan, was also quoted saying “I found Lawrence to be reinvigorated with fresh ideas and a clear message of unification”.

Bundaberg anything but retiring

February 25th, 2008

Carlyle Gardens retirement village residents were ready to tackle Lawrence with a series of questions when he continued his Conversation with Queensland tour in Bundaberg. Lawrence met with the retirees and answered their questions on a number of pressing issues. He followed this with a meeting with Bundaberg cane growers who voiced their unhappiness about the urban fire levy which was recently imposed on all residences within a 12 minute response time. This has effectively left rural owners paying an urban fire levy at double the price. Lawrence commented that it was revenue raising without the rural areas having any of the benefits of being urban.

Go the Borg!

I was wondering where I would be able to get one of the “The Borg is Back….Go the Borg” t-shirts. Anthony, Milton

Hello Lawrence - I’m pleased you’re leader again

February 25th, 2008

Hello Lawrence, I’m pleased you’re leader again.  Remember it was Beattie who forced ambulance levy, water meters for Rockhampton, amalgamation, and now, it’s poison in our water from M/s Bligh, well she hasn’t really been elected by the people to do anything.  I have faith you will be able to lead the State well.

Kind Regards, G. Simpson, Rockhampton

P.S. We now have Nazi style decisions (again) by suppressing TV footage in Parliament, what else is this mob going to force on the people of Queensland?  B. Simpson, Rockhampton
